Narrative Description of Project:

Government of Nepal has received a financial assistance of ADB for implementation of Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project. The project aims to improve health and quality of life of the people in 20-25 small towns by constructing or extending water supply, drainage and sanitation facilities and providing health and hygiene education program.

Main Project Features:

Sukhad (Ghodaghodi Municipality) - Kailali – Population – 16056; Household – 2377; Design Discharge – 39 lps; Ground Water / Pumpimg (Lifting) / Deep Tubewell – 5 nos, Pump – 5 sets; Overhead Tank-2 no of 200 m3; Water Treatment Plant; Pressure Filter of 360 m3/hr; Distribution Network-65.6 Km (DI, GI and HDPE); Office Building – 2; Sanitation 3 Institutional Toilet; Construction Cost (approx): NRs. 233 millions.

Musikot Municipality - Rukum – Population – 18741; Household – 2468; Design Discharge – 28 lps; Transmission Pipeline -14.3Km (GI and HDPE); Distribution – 29.8 Km (DI, GI and HDPE); Treat Slow Sand Filter with provision of Chlorine Contract Tank for capacity of 32m3/hr and 76m3/hr; Office Building – 1; Sanitation-3 Institutional Toilet; Construction Cost (approx): NRs. 186 millions.

Sitalpati / Salyan (Sharada Municipality) – Population – 14779; Household – 1256, Design Discharge – 16.73 lps; Ground Water / Pumpimg (Lifting) / Deep Tubewell – 2 no Shallow Well, Pump – 6 sets, Transmission Pipeline-5Km; Treatment Plant-2 sets of 72m3/hr capacity each pressure filters with water softening through zeolite process with total of 144m3/hr capacity; Distribution Network – 17.5 Km (DI, GI, HDPE); Office Building – 1; Sanitation – 1 Institutional Toilet; Construction Cost (approx): NRs. 165 millions.

Chandrauta (Krishnanagar Municipality) - Kapilvastu – Population – 17346; Household – 2468; Design Discharge – 26 lps; Ground Water / Pumpimg (Lifting) / Deep Tubewell – 2 no, Pump – 4 sets; Treatment Facility-2 sets of 72m3/hr capacity each Pressure Filters with total of 144m3/hr capacity; Distribution Network 29.28 Km (DI, GI and HDPE); Office Building – 1, Sanitation 1 Institutional Toilet, Construction Cost (approx): NRs. 146 millions.
