Detailed Narrative Description of Project:

The DSC-KSUTP was engaged to provide services under the consultancy contract for the following three components of Urban road as follows:

Component 1: Design of Public Transport Infrastructure

Component 1 comprises design of works to be conducted by the DoTM comprising a Pilot Bus Route. The pilot route for urban road is located in Kathmandu Metropolitan City, designated S5 and is 12.1 km long and runs from the New Bus Park via Samakhusi and the CBD to Sinamangal and the Airport. The works consists of i) Bus stops, with associated ancillary infrastructure of shelters, seating and signage on; ii) Terminal facilities for off-peak bus parking, together with passenger boarding and alighting platforms, shelters and supporting infrastructure at each end of the two pilot routes, comprising four locations in total; iii) Depot facitlities comprising paving, depot building structure and services for the pilot route

Design stage under this component consisted of preparation of surveys, detailed design, construction drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, draft contract documents and bidding documents for the urban road works.

Component 2: Supervision and Contract Administration of ongoing works under DoR

Component 2 comprises construction supervision, construction management support on urban road works under implementation comprising as follows:

• Works under ICB-02-Bishnumati Link Urban Road (BLR) from Dallu to Teku, Junction improvement at 4 locations on the BLR (Shova Bhagawati, Dallu, Bhisensthan and Teku) and Road bridges of approximately 80m span at Teku and Dallu. Major works are i) Construction of RCC Teku Bridge; ii) Construction of Truss  Bridge at Dallu; iii) Construction of Juction at Sovabhagwati, Dallu, Bhimsenthan and Teku; iv) Dallu-Teku Road Construction; Contract Amount: NRs. 226174974.31
• Works under ICB-03-Central Area Junction Improvements at twenty two locations and sidewalk improvements in the vicinity of the junctions. Contract commencement date for ICB-03. Contract Amount: NRs. 225386517.55
• Works under ICB-04-Supply and Installation of Intelligent Traffic System in Kathmandu. This consists of installation of 25 traffic Signal Controllers, and CCTV cameras at 25 locations, linked via fibre optic cable or wireless to a Central Traffic management Centre.
• Works under NCB-02-Pedestrain Bridges comprising rehabilitation of two pedestrian bridges and construction of one new pedestrian bridge over the Bishnumati River, with spans between 25 and 35 metres. Contract Amount: NRs. 18603204.35
• DSYL/W/SHOP/1: Upgrading of Bus Depot and Construction of Bus (Shelter) for Improvement of S-5 Pilot Route Contract Amount: NRs. 19102064.17

Consultant has involved for the contract administration and construction supervision of the works.

Component 3: Design of Additional Works under DoR

Component 3 comprises design of works to be conducted by the DoR comprising:

• Junction Improvement works comprising intersection layouts, turning lanes and channelization at approximately 25 locations with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City
• Expansion of the Intelligent Traffic System at 25 locations identified for improvement by installation of vehicular traffic signals, pedestrian traffic signals and the necessary communication sub-systems to link with the Traffic management Centre to be installed under ICB-04 
• Design stage services under this component has carried out for preparation of surveys, detailed design, construction drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, draft contract documents and bidding documents for the works.

Total Project Cost : USD 4530247.78

Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided by the Company:

A)    SURVEY, INVESTIGATION AND DESIGN: a) Surveys and Investigation; b) Detailed Design of the Component 1 Works: Public Transport Infrastructure; c) Detailed Design of the Component 2 Works: Ongoing Works; d) Detailed Design of Component 3 Works: Additional Junction Improvements & ITS; e) Preparation of Detailed Drawings; f) Quantity Estimate, Rate Analysis, Cost Estimate and Preparation of Tender Documents of necessary components & sub-project; g) Land Acquisition, Compensation, Resettlement, Environmental and Social Safeguards Compliance Monitoring
